The Indonesia Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) is pleased to be able to report to you that the ICA-CEPA negotiations have reached what is being called a substantive conclusion. We would like to congratulate the negotiators from both countries on reaching this significant milestone.
The Indonesia Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement will focus on market access for goods, services, and investment, and includes provisions on small and medium-sized enterprises, labour, environment, and women’s economic empowerment, and co-operation on critical minerals between two countries.
This is Indonesia’s first CEPA in North America and it is anticipated to create opportunities for increased trade in the agriculture, manufacturing sectors, and strengthen supply chains for Indonesia. Indonesia is also looking to increase partnership with Canada, especially in the area of critical minerals, food security & self-sufficiency, energy security, and defense.
After the 10th negotiation round recently held in Bandung since its first launch in 2021, a Joint Ministerial Statement on the conclusion of the negotiations is expected to be held during the Team Canada Trade Mission, which will bring over 200 Canadian business delegates to Indonesia next month in early December.
